Jane is a celebrated contemporary landscape painter for a reason: her work breathes life and draws you in. Her skilled combination of stunning landscape detail whilst retaining elements of abstraction is a testament to her artistic talent.
When painting, Jane finds her attention sharpens on what it’s like to be in the present moment, amidst the real landscape itself. She finds it injects a sense of animation into the canvas, and it allows her to freely call on abstract components in her work.
Jane’s family has lived in the Bay of Islands for generations, making these landscapes significant to her in particular. It is no wonder her paintings of Northland helped to classify her as one of New Zealand’s favourite artists. The root of her inspiration comes from the contrast of light on the blue skies, multi-hued sea, and deep colours that form our country’s land.
We proudly show both Jane’s original works, alongside an extensive range of her prints. Come and browse some beautifully present moments in New Zealand landscapes, right here at Turua Gallery.
