Charlotte Robertson

Dunedin-based Charlotte Robertson has always been strongly guided by intuition, a trait evident not only in her practice as a somatic therapist, but as a talented painter whose works beautifully intertwine the natural and the mystical. Completely self-taught since high school, Charlotte has developed her craft in painting, ceramics, and drawing, fostering a unique, rich style that’s all her own.

Charlotte’s art dives deeply into spiritual exploration and personal mythology, layering symbolism to create pieces that are as enigmatic as they are inviting. Her vibrant oil-on-board pieces, with their thick, textured brushstrokes, evoke a sense of sanctuary and protection. Each composition is talismanic and altar-like in essence, offering a divine protection to spaces, people, and the natural world.

These stunning works invite each viewer to embark on their own journey of interpretation, often leaving hints of meaning tucked beneath intricate layers of imagery. We just love how thoughtful and expressive each brushstroke feels.

Actively exhibiting in group and solo shows across New Zealand and Australia, Charlotte has made her mark in the art world. Her work brings an intriguing warmth to any space, radiating a sense of connection to both the seen and unseen worlds. We couldn’t be more pleased to host a collection of her magical works here at Turua Gallery.
