At Turua Gallery, we are on a mission to make contemporary art accessible to all. We offer a welcoming space where you can explore a curated collection of original artworks from a diverse range of talented New Zealand artists. There is something for every art lover, whether you're a seasoned collector or discovering the joy of owning art for the very first time. We showcase artworks for all budgets and tastes, from emerging artists through to sought-after mid-career and established artists.
We are always excited to share new art with you. Our gallery is a vibrant world filled with a diverse range of mediums and styles. You'll find everything from beautiful paintings and ceramics to unique textile art and limited-edition prints. We love keeping our collection fresh, so we have a busy annual program of group and solo shows and salon hangs, ensuring there's always something new to delight and challenge you on every visit.

Our annual stockroom show is now showing & we know how much you all love this exhibition.
Our walls are rocking the more is more aesthetic with works from all the artists who currently have pieces in our gallery.
This is the show where you remember the gems, find a treasure. Pieces of all sizes, mediums and subject matter.
And shhhhh - many of our artists have popped cheeky wee prices on their pieces for the duration of the show.

Following a string of sold-out exhibitions and an ever-growing collector following, celebrated New Zealand artist Carmel van der Hoeven will unveil her highly anticipated new solo exhibition, Pretty Brutal, from 31 July to 12 August 2026.
The collection marks Carmel's first floral-focused exhibition since 2023's Sweet Thing and features more than 25 new works spanning a variety of scales, from striking large-format pieces to intimate studies. As with her previous exhibitions, demand is expected to be high, with pre-sale opportunities available ahead of the official opening.
For Carmel, Pretty Brutal is a deeply personal exploration of transformation and the traces left by time.
"Pretty Brutal is an exploration of change and the marks it leaves behind. Through colour, movement and layered forms, the paintings draw on cycles found in nature and within ourselves to reflect growth, resilience and transformation. Time leaves marks on everything. Some are beautiful. Some are brutal. Most are both," says Carmel.
With her commission list now closed, Pretty Brutal offers a rare opportunity for collectors and admirers to acquire new pieces from one of the country's most compelling contemporary painters.
Twilight Viewings are the perfect opportunity for you to join us in the gallery after 5pm & view an exhibition or collection of works we have showing, along with access to our stock room.These viewings will be perfect for you, if you're an art group who is looking to purchase your next piece, an Interior Designer wanting to work with your client to find perfect pieces, or maybe you’d like to purchase someone special a voucher & book a Twilight Viewing for them to select their gift.
With only one viewing available per evening, you will be the only viewers in the gallery & greeted with a glass of bubbles on arrival. If you are wanting to make an evening of it, we have partnered with Semplice Italian Restaurant, who are next door to our gallery. You will be able to book a meal with them after the viewing (Wed - Sat) & will be treated to a complimentary glass of Italian Prosecco on arrival to the restaurant.
