Michel is a multi-disciplinary genius, and we are thrilled to host his work. He conceptually manipulates across medias, collaborating on installations and curating performance artworks. Whilst renowned as a sculptor, painter, and carver, Michel’s true passion is his previous major in art school: printmaking. A keen historian, contemporary culture is at the core of his art practise. He takes the role of working ‘in between’; his art is a vehicle to spark conversations spanning across environmental, communal, cultural, and historical divides. Michel’s works have successfully led to the curation of his art in major international exhibitions, alongside public and private collections including NZ’s own Te Papa.
He is honoured to be recognised by the art world, and in 2008, was appointed as a Member of the New Zealand Order of Merit (MNZM) for his services to art. We have an extensive collection of Michel’s original prints in the gallery. Please enquire if the print you’re after cannot be seen here.
