Harriet Millar

Hugely inspired by the magic of New Zealand landscapes, Harriet’s paintings often sell before they are even hung in the gallery! An acrylic partisan since learning that children, furniture, and oil paints don’t mix well, Harriet has worked extensively for Barkers of Geraldine. Based in Christchurch, she has only recently returned to her love of painting, after successfully outsourcing her five children to school.

Harriet interprets local and rural scenes around New Zealand in a way that explodes with vivacity. Her style involves substantial layers of thick and loose brushstrokes, indulging in hints of unexpected colour. It’s clear that we all adore Harriet’s paintings, so we are thrilled to have her original landscapes and botanical works here in the gallery, alongside a selection of prints. Harriet also welcomes commissions through Turua—just let us know!
