Melissa and Dean share a long-time love of art—in fact, one of their first dates was wandering around Auckland City’s galleries. After running a successful design agency together for twenty years, they decided to chase their dream of creating a space that warmly celebrates all manners of New Zealand art. So, in late 2018 at St Helier’s village, Turua Gallery was born!

The gallery has a close team who are all highly passionate about the art and artists. We find joy in all aspects of the gallery; hanging pieces, openings, and of course, meeting visitors (you!). 

Besides Melissa and Dean, you might bump into their daughters Ruby and Lucy while topping up your bubbly at one of our buzzing opening nights. Other friendly faces at the gallery are Jo and Gilly—both well-versed in the art world, they have a keen eye for pieces you might enjoy.
