A much-loved New Zealand artist, Jody has been with our gallery since we first opened. She conjures up stunning contemporary works in her Matakana studio, ranging from abstract painterly to contemporary landscapes and assemblage art. Born and bred in the beautiful Northland, Jody has adopted her family name of 'Hope' Gibbons as her artist signature, to honour the passing of her father.
Jody explores textures and layers in her art, which is what makes these works so dynamic. Her style is becoming bolder and more gestural, bringing her recurring reference back to land into the forefront.
In 2021, Jody had an outstanding show despite the many COVID-19 disruptions. Though having been moved online, her large exhibition was incredibly popular, and in such high demand that the show was a complete sell-out!
Jody's work is held in private collections here and throughout the world. Turua has an ever-changing selection of her pieces for you to see. Happily, she is also available for commissions.
