This series is a marriage of juxtapositions. It is both; simple and complex, perfect and imperfect, quiet and loud, and calming and invigorating. By performing double-duty the viewer is taken on a journey of emotions, each at their own pace, as they look beyond the surface to reveal the subtle moments of beauty that are found in the unexpected.
Influenced by the philosophy of Wabi-Sabi – where flaws, patina and age are all qualities that are deeply admired. I found such comfort in embracing this approach as I painted as it so accurately depicted my own worldview. A concept that invites conversation, encourages interpretation, and champions uniqueness. It gave me the personal creative challenge I needed, while also allowing utter freedom to follow my intuition.
