Duality

Duality
Georgina Hoby Scutt & Jamie Adamson

26 July - 7 August
Opening night from 5pm, Friday 26 July

“Duality" unites the wonderful warm tones of both Georgina’s painted landscapes & still life with Jamie’s wood wall sculptures.

Georgina brings together a collection of landscape & still life paintings infused with a sense of nostalgia. Memories of long lunches, late afternoon light lingering on tabletops and buildings.
Still life paintings that honour every day objects with a nod to the Old Masters – fruit, flowers, wine; and humble vessels - bowl, jug, vase, which also convey a sense of comfort, simplicity & pleasure in daily rituals.
Technically the paintings are lightly worked, matte & celebrate the materials - textural raw canvas and linen showing through surfaces; with a colour palette that is warm, muted but generous.

For Jamie’s collection, it is not about moving away from the circular shapes he is known for, but for creating more movement within the circles. The result is a wonderful collection of works in a range of sizes & forms. Jamie creates his pieces instinctively, in part guided by the organic nature of the woods he works with along with leaning on the skills he has honed from years as a boat builder, with an attention to form & line to make aesthetically considered pieces. Many of his works are shaped naturally and seamlessly through gentle steam-bending.

Duality promises to be a study in artworks sitting in harmony together. A collection of works from two different artists, born from two different practises and coming together to show how such works can sit so well together in a space and compliment each other.

We’d love you to join us for the opening on Friday 26 July from 5pm, everyone is welcome and we, along with Jamie & Georgina would love to see you.
