Turua Gallery is all about demystifying the notion of contemporary art. We offer a relaxed space that welcomes you to freely appreciate the creative works of fellow New Zealanders. You’ll encounter the works of both established and emerging artists through the solo and group exhibitions we host, alongside many opportunities to start collecting the special pieces that speak to you.
Beyond the canvas, Turua Gallery holds a wide range of limited-edition prints, sculptures, and ceramics - a broad selection of truly exceptional talent. We are so proud to support some of the amazing artists our country has to offer. Come in and discover uniquely captured experiences of Aotearoa in our beautifully curated collection of contemporary New Zealand art.

A true sensation in contemporary art, Auckland-based, self taught artist Joshua Davison is bringing together a magical collection for his first solo exhibition with Turua Gallery this August. A body of work that promises to be a hypnotising contrast of texture, colour, realism, and abstraction.
Joshua practices traditional oil-painting techniques that hark back centuries; imprimatura, a favoured renaissance approach, and sfumato, a da Vinci staple, are just a couple of the historical techniques he dabbles in. Also quite the innovator, he includes his methodical palette knife technique and textural piping model paste in his art practice. This medley of new-and-old gives Joshua’s works a sense of true originality.

We are very excited to share a series of workshops with 3 of our much loved artists, as part of the St Heliers Art Fest, which runs for two weeks from Friday 29th August.
We are holding three amazing workshops that will give you the opportunity to unleash your creative side. Sara Langdon, Helen Dean & Helen Bankers are holding one workshop each and tickets are very limited.
These workshops are designed to be relaxed, enjoyable and encouraging. Perfect to do with a friend or a fav family member. The workshops are perfect for those of you who are new to these skills & those who have experience alike.

We are excited to share we have launched Twilight Viewings.
Twilight Viewings are the perfect opportunity for you to join us in the gallery after 5pm & view an exhibition or collection of works we have showing, along with access to our stock room.These viewings will be perfect for you, if you're an art group who is looking to purchase your next piece, an Interior Designer wanting to work with your client to find perfect pieces, or maybe you’d like to purchase someone special a voucher & book a Twilight Viewing for them to select their gift.
With only one viewing available per evening, you will be the only viewers in the gallery & greeted with a glass of bubbles on arrival. If you are wanting to make an evening of it, we have partnered with Semplice Italian Restaurant, who are next door to our gallery. You will be able to book a meal with them after the viewing (Wed - Sat) & will be treated to a complimentary glass of Italian Prosecco on arrival to the restaurant.
