Turua Gallery is all about demystifying the notion of contemporary art. We offer a relaxed space that welcomes you to freely appreciate the creative works of fellow New Zealanders. You’ll encounter the works of both established and emerging artists through the solo and group exhibitions we host, alongside many opportunities to start collecting the special pieces that speak to you.
Beyond the canvas, Turua Gallery holds a wide range of limited-edition prints, sculptures, and ceramics - a broad selection of truly exceptional talent. We are so proud to support some of the amazing artists our country has to offer. Come in and discover uniquely captured experiences of Aotearoa in our beautifully curated collection of contemporary New Zealand art.
We welcome Kapiti-based artist Cam Munroeto our gallery with a special showcase "Journal".
Cam has spent over three decades honing her skills in acrylic and mixed media painting & the results are quite enticing. 'Journal’ is a showcase of a number of recent works by Cam & invites viewers to navigate a world of wandering lines, shifting shapes, and cryptic symbols— fragments of an unknown language woven into rich surfaces. Letter-like forms emerge and dissolve, whispering like distant voices or half-remembered dreams, hinting at a narrative just beyond reach. By layering impasto textures with acrylic, ink, and oil, Cam creates intricate, tactile compositions where lettering acts as subtle signposts within a visual narrative. A selective palette and her use of wire brushes and sandpaper adds further depth and dimension to each painting.
We are excited to share we have launched Twilight Viewings.
Twilight Viewings are the perfect opportunity for you to join us in the gallery after 5pm & view an exhibition or collection of works we have showing, along with access to our stock room.These viewings will be perfect for you, if you're an art group who is looking to purchase your next piece, an Interior Designer wanting to work with your client to find perfect pieces, or maybe you’d like to purchase someone special a voucher & book a Twilight Viewing for them to select their gift.
With only one viewing available per evening, you will be the only viewers in the gallery & greeted with a glass of bubbles on arrival. If you are wanting to make an evening of it, we have partnered with Semplice Italian Restaurant, who are next door to our gallery. You will be able to book a meal with them after the viewing (Wed - Sat) & will be treated to a complimentary glass of Italian Prosecco on arrival to the restaurant.
